GRU member detained in Ukraine agrees to cooperate with investigators
Arrested Alexander Aleksandrov has refused to appeal his arrest and has become a cooperative defendant.
Russian Alexander Aleksandrov detained in Ukraine on charges of terrorism has refused to appeal his arrest and has agreed to cooperate with investigators, Ukrainian mass media refer to his lawyer Konstantin Kravchuk.
"The defendant is cooperative. He is satisfied with the conditions in the VIP-ward of military hospital,” the lawyer told RBK. Aleksandrov will spend at least two more months in hospital to recover from operations, he added.
Kravchuk has asked to lift the terrorism charges from his client. Aleksandrov did not use weapons in Ukraine and can only be accused of crossing the border illegally with the purpose of intelligence, he said.
The other detained Russian (Victor Yerafeyev) has appealed his arrest. Both Russian will stay in jail until July 19. The Russian consul has already visited them and admitted that the legal and medical assiatnce rendered to them is qualified. The arrested men are not complaining about medics or members of the Ukrainian security forces working with them.
Both Russians were detained on May 16. They confessed to be Russian servicemen.
