IMF likely to wire loan second installment in late June
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) can wire the second installment of nearly $400 million of its $2 billion loan to Belarus in late June, Natalia Koliadina, IMF permanent representative in Minsk, said in a statement.
The government of Belarus and IMF's experts agreed on the most of the positions in the framework of the stand-by program during the recent visit of a IMF mission and this work will now be continued, reports Itar-Tass. "Basically, we have agreed with the government on all major issues apart from just some", Koliadina said. The Belarusian authorities "needed some time to think over our proposals and and take a decision", she added.
At the same time, the IMF representative noted that the fund does not insist on a new devaluation of the Belarusian rubel, but just "forecasts a certain flexibility of the foreign exchange rate".
