Lohvinaŭ to get rights to publish Alexievich’s books in Belarusian for free
Publisher Ihar Lohvinaŭ will receive the right to publish Svetlana Alexievich’s books translated into Belarusian for free, the head of the publishing house told Euroradio on November 15.
Lohvinaŭ: "Svyatlana has the right to distribute her works in Belarus. She will give us the right for free.”
There will be five volumes in the collection. Writer Uladzimir Arlou, poet and interpreter Andrei Hadanovich, publicist Syarhei Dubavets, philosopher Valyantsin Akudovich and writer Barys Pyatrovich will translate the books. The writer made changes in her old books and there was censorship in the Soviet time, Ihar Lohvinaŭ said. The translators will take everything into account and the translation will be ‘more up-to-date’. They have already managed to receive money for the translation and preparation for the publication, the publisher noted.
