Lukashenka: Belarus ready for any steps to normalize relations with EU
Belarus leader Alyaksandr Lukashenka says Minsk wants to normalize relation with Europe but expects the European Union to make steps.
Alyaksandr Lukashenka would like to normalize relations with the European Union. But Belarus cannot be blamed for anything, the Belarusian President said at the ceremony of signing foreign Ambassadors’ credentials in Minsk on Monday.
"I do not to want to say that the ball is in your court, it is a journalist cliché. But it is in your court,” interfax.by quotes Lukashenka as saying.
"We have too many external threats on the densly populated European territory. Let us think about the ways to resist the threats together instead of casting dubious glances at one another,” the Belarusian leader added.
He drew attention to the fact that productive cooperation with the EU "was only possible on condition of mutual respect and equality." Lukashenka also mentioned his interest in the presence of European businesses in Belarus.
