Belarusian leader met with the Vatican Secretary of State on March 13 in Minsk.
Alyaksandr Lukashenka met with Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin on Friday, March 13, in Minsk. Lukashenka noted the fact that our country manages to keep an interfaith peace and understanding.
Lukashenka: "Everyone has the right to find their way to the Lord, the temple, where he wishes to come. This is their sacred right, no one has the right to oppose it."
According to Alyaksandr Lukashenka, Belarus stops attempts "to create a preference for a particular faith at the expense of others and thus destabilize the interfaith environment". He once again expressed his wish that in our country there were more local Catholic priests.
As reported by BELTA, at the meeting with Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Lukashenka passed to Pope Francis a man-made image of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. It was made using the special Belarusian technology. The icon is valuable, because it was made by ordinary people, said Alyaksandr Lukashenka.
