Lukashenka tells security forces to play it cool during election campaign
There is no need for "stupid and unnecessary initiatives," the president said at the meeting in Minsk on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, June 23, Alyaksandr Lukashenka held a meeting on "urgent domestic issues." It was dedicated primarily to the future presidential elections.
Mr Lukashenka expressed an opinion that the House of Representatives will support the proposal of the CEC and set and the election for October 11. He promised not to print money before the election and not raise prices, because there is no opportunity to raise salaries.
Also were discussed the issues of peace and order in the country during the election campaign. Alyaksandr Lukashenka demanded discipline, maximum co-ordination on the part of the vertical of power and power structures.
"But at the same time I want to warn you: there must be no silly, stupid, unnecessary initiatives, no detaining people for standing in the 'wrong' spots, no dragging people and so on, BELTA quoted Lukashenka. - Be proactive, explain it to people, ask them... But we need to live these three months decently, so that no one could accuse us... We must not allow the slightest destabilization of the situation in the country."
The Head of State urged officials and security forces to avoid complacency and not act as if this election is a "done deal".
