Makei: Dialogue with EU to pay dividends soon
The dialogue with the European Union will pay dividends in Belarus soon, Minister for Foreign Affairs Uladzimir Makei said after a meeting dedicated to Belarus-EU relations held at the President’s. It is necessary to use the opportunity for building up a respectful and grounded dialogue between Belarus and the European Union, BELTA reports.
Alyaksandr Lukashenka set the goal of developing relations with the EU and ‘other western partners’, namely in the sphere of trade, economy and investments, Makei noted. “This is our main task,” the Minister said. It is essential in the current economic and financial situation in the world.
The coordination group European Union – Belarus will gather in Brussels on April 6. The directions of Belarus-EU relations ‘ranging from energy issues to the environment and human rights’ will be discussed there.
Belarus and the EU agreed on 29 measures aimed at establishing closer relations, Euroradio reported yesterday. But this is an internal document and it has not been made public yet.
