Mandate of UN special rapporteur on Belarus prolonged
UN Human Rights Council prolongs Miklos Haraszti's mandate as UN rapporteur on human rights in Belarus at a meeting in Geneva on Thursday.
26 countries voted for prolonging Miklós Haraszti’s mandate. 3 states voted contra and 15 abstained.
The majority decides the result of the vote, Radio Liberty noted.
Representatives of Ireland, USA, Belarus (Mihail Hvastou represented our country), Venezuela and Ecuador took part in the discussion.
The official Minsk does not recognize the mandate of the UN special rappoerteur on Belarus. Our government is refusing to cooperate with Haraszti and to give him a visa.
