Medvedev on social networks block: Officials should use brains
The Russian PM has reacted to the statement made by deputy head of Roskomnadzor Marksim Ksenzov.
The administration of some foreign Internet companies refused to cooperate with the Russian authorities and ‘used people as a means of politics’, the official told mass media. Roskomnadzor considers it ‘a social threat’ and is ready to block Facebook and Twitter in Russia.
Dmitri Medvedev has responded to the statement on Facebook: “Officials should use their brains. Being an active user of social networks, I believe that everyone should stick to the Russian legislation, both users and networks. However, some officials responsible for the development of the industry should use their brains sometimes. They should not announce in their interviews that social networks will be closed.”
