Russia has no plans to halt natural gas supplies to Belarus, Russian Ambassador in Minsk Dmitry Mezentsev said on 17 June. His statement comes in response to the reports in several Belarus-related Telegram channels predicting Moscow's "sanctions" from 1 July. The reports suggested the sanctions would be a punishment for Belarus' indebted payments for the previous supplies.

"According to the data from Russian Energy Ministry, one has no grounds to think that on some date in June or July 2020 or anytime at all the supplies of Russian natural gas to Belarus would be limited or stopped," Ria.ru quotes Ambassador Mezentsev as saying.

Minsk insists that Belarus has no debt for the supplied Russian natural gas. Rather, there are differences over the price.

In the video, President Lukashenka told a rally in Hrodna on 16 June that there are many alternatives to Russian natural gas at the world market.
