Official Vilnius objects to nuclear power plant construction in Belarus
It is stipulated in the official position prepared by the Lithuanian Ministry for Enviroment Protection. The document will be passed to Belarus, reports Delfi. The document says that the assessment of the environmental consequnces of the future nuclear power plant are not fully presented. Therefore, Lithuania will request to hold yet another presentation. However, Belarus is not bound to take Lithuania's position on this issue into account.
The document displays criticism of the construction site, points to the lack of details in the description of the reactor and an unclear method of disposing of radioactive waste,e tc.
The Lithuanian side also says that the Belarusian documents mention that the station will endure only a small light plane crash. It means it will not be protected from a civil airliner crash.
