Boeing crash in Ukraine - one of versions released by investigators (video)
Who was involved? Investigators suspect the doomed passenger jet was downed by a BUK missile system that was later quickly moved to Russia.
The international group of investigators from Australia, Belgium, Malaysia, the Netherlands and Ukraine has published a video asking witnesses of the transportation of a Buk system in Donetsk Oblast soon after the Boeing crash to contact them.
The plane crashed in Donetsk Oblast of Ukraine on July 17, 2014. 298 people died. It was a regular flight from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur.
Investigators are considering a few versions of the catastrophe. According to one of the versions, the airplane was taken down by a Buk missile.
The missile was likely to be launched from the area in Donetsk Oblast controlled by separatists, investigators said in the video.
That is why the investigators are looking for witnesses who could see the transportation of a Buk system in East Ukraine. The experts have defined the transportation itinerary and published separatists’ phone conversations connected with the Buk. The missile system was transported to Russia after the plane crash, the international group of investigators reports.
However, it is too early to make the final conclusions, the Dutch Prosecutor’s office reports. The fact that witnesses of the transportation of a Buk system are needed now does not mean that the reason for the plane crash has been revealed.
