Opposition activist faces fine for hanging flags near administration's building
Nasta Azaranka, an opposition activist in Nyasvizh, is facing a trial on charges of "violating the rules of beautifying towns" and a fine of up to Br700,000. On Friday, she was summoned to the local police department and proposed to sign a protocol of July 27. On July 27, she was detained at 0730 when she was hanging white-red-white flags near the district council to mark 20 years of Belarus' independence. The watchman called police when he saw Nasta hanging flags. When at the police station, she refused to write an explanation and wrote a complaint against the actions of the district council instead.
