PM Myasnikovich sees ‘positive signs’ in US
Belarus Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich attended the First Belarusian-U.S. Investment Forum in New York.
"My experience and position do not allow me to claim that everything has suddenly changed for the better,” BELTA quotes Mihail Myasnikovich. “There can be no miracle in such a situation. However, the policy conducted by President Alyaksandr Lukashenka deserves respect.”
Belarus’ activities in settling the conflict in Ukraine were mentioned, the Belarusian PM said. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon called Lukashenka’s policy ‘wise’, Myasnikovich noted. He noticed positive signs of transformation of the way Belarus is perceived in in the USA, he added.
The Belarusian government is trying to get the U.S. sanctions imposed on Belarusian enterprises lifted, Euroradio reported earlier. There are positive changes in the Belarusian-American relations, Belarusian political observer Raman Yakauleuski thinks. However, there is an obstacle to it – Belarusian political prisoners.
