Venomous tarantulas acclimatize in Belarus (video)
Tarantulas from southern Russia were first found in Belarus in 2008.
The spiders are settling in Belarus using the water meadows near the Pripyat, Dnieper and Sozh as ecological corridors, BelTA reports referring to scientists.
Spiders can bite people if they accidentally step on them. They poison is not dangerous, however, it can cause a reaction that may result in a swell.
The climate warming has not only caused tarantulas to settle in Belarus. Other sun-loving insects are settling in the southern regions of Belarus as well and mantes are among them. Scientists have already found them in Rechytsa and Rahachou Districts. Mantes eat destructive insects like flies, gnats, etc. However, mantes can also hunt bees during the reproduction period.
