Police to step up security on Independence Day in Minsk

The police say security will be boosted during the Independence Day celebrations on July 3 in Minsk and ask members of the public to be vigilant and report about suspected objects.
Aliaksandr Barsukou, a deputy chief of the Minsk City Police Department, said nearly 4000 police officers will be deployed in downtown Minsk on July 3.

17 metal detectors will be installed in central Minsk to screen visitors of festive events.

Drunk people and those carrying alcohol will be denied access to the mass events. Alcohol will not be sold in the radius of 500 meters from the festive sites, reports Interfax Zapad.
