Police: We know nothing about preventive detentions
Head of the public order department of the Belarusian MIA Ivan Kubrakou announced it at a press conference on May 6.
He has no information about preventive detentions of opposition activists before the Victory Day and the World Ice Hockey Championship in Minsk, he claimed.
Policemen detain people violating the order and it is part of their daily routine, BelaPAN reports. The court usually decides how to punish such people, he added.
According to human rights defenders, about 15 opposition activists are in jail right now. Some of them have been jailed today. The opposition and human rights defenders think that the detentions were preventive.
