Political refugee Andrei Zhukavets acquitted in Poland.
The case was started 14 years ago.
Białystok District Court has acquitted him.
Zhukavets was sentenced to 3 years of imprisonment and a fine of 15 thousand zlotys at the end of April 2013. A criminal case was started against Zhukavets (supporter of the Young Front) for ‘fraud’. Belarus demanded to extradite him.
The fact of falsification of Zhukavets’ case papers sent from Belarus was mentioned many times. The limitation period for the charges was also over in Belarus, Zhukavets noted. Nevertheless, Białystok District Court sued to ignore the circumstance.
