Thousand of Lisbon fans came to the Marquis of Pombal Square right after the final match of Euro-2016 (France-Portugal) to celebrate the victory of their national team. All the streets leading to the square were blocked. People were honking and chanting Portugal allez! and Sim! late into the night.
Portugal won the European Football Cup for the first time in history on July 10. The Portuguese players managed to defeat France without Cristiano Ronaldo who was substituted due to an injury during the 25th minute – 1:0. The only goal was scored by Éder during the 109th minute.
