Prakapovich: We lack young officials because of low wages

Euroradio: Why are many ministers including you and Mihail Myasnikovich elderly people? Shouldn’t the staff be replaced?

Prakapovich: Our ministers are pretty young. The average age is 31! There are administrators aged 30-35, and the ministers are mostly 45 years old. It depends on whether people are ready or not. It depends on their abilities.

Euroradio: Do we lack young and promising people?

Prakapovich: We simply don’t have any! We intend to bring young people to all spheres. But we need high-quality specialists. You cannot become a minister right after graduation. You need to work as a headmaster before becoming the minister of education. It imposes great responsibility. You need to prove that you are better than others. Wages are another issue. Many people want to work in commercial structures, because they get higher wages.

Euroradio: Anyway, shouldn’t the cabinet be renewed?

Prakapovich: The age limit is 65. I am the only Minister who has reached it. Myasnikovich is 62 or 63. I am not leaving, because I can still do my job well. They will ask me to retire when I am no longer able to do it.
