Protest against repressions in Belarus organized in New York (photo, video)

A street action in protest against repressions in Belarus was held near the Belarusian Consulate in New York on April 9. It was organized by young members of Brookline affiliate of the Belarusian-American Association (BAZA). Representatives of the American-European Solidarity Committee founded by the diasporas of the Eastern Europe, the Baltic States and the Caucasus and Crimean Tatars joined the protest.

The recent events in Belarus are making them draw the international community’s attention to them, the protesters said.  Hundreds of people were arrested in Minsk on Freedom Day. Criminal cases have been started against a number of Belarusian patriots.
