Ales Byalyatski’s money raising campaign is almost over
Uladzimir Labkovich has informed Euroradio about it.
According to the human rights activist, no information about the sum of money is available now. However, 720 or 730 million roubles has already been collected. The money was received in 20 days. The money raising campaign started on December 15. Let us remind you that the court obliged Byalyatski to pay a compensation of 757 million roubles.
“We will transfer the money as soon as the account is announced and the appeal hearing takes place. We are not going to stop the campaign now and the whole sum has not been collected yet. We are hoping that the Belarusian judicial system will take it into account and mitigate Ales Byalyatski’s sentence. Of course, neither Byalyatski pleads guilty nor we admit his guilt”, - said Uladzimir Labkovich to Euroradio.
“Viasna” hopes that the compensation will influence the fate of the head of the centre. However, they cannot predict the exact influence. Maybe his property will not be confiscated or he may be transferred to a penal labour camp.
