Ales Byalyatski on short-list of British human rights award
The famous HR defender is among the contenders for the annual award of the British organization "Index on Censorship".
Our
countryman is presented in the "Advocacy" nomination, informs BelaPAN.
The "Index on Censorship" annual freedom of expression award will be
given for the thirteenth time this year. The prize is awarded to journalists,
bloggers, on-line activists, human rights defenders and artists who struggle
against censorship in any form all over the world.
Alongside with Byalyatski, there are two more nominees in "Advocacy"
- a 15-year-old Malala Yousafazai - a Pakistani education campaigner, the
British initiative Hillsborough Family Support Group and the youth movement
Girifna from Sudan.
The laureates will be defined this week. The awarding ceremony will take place
in London on March 21.
