Andrei Fyodarau: Minsk could made concessions
The expert of the Europe Research Centre has commented on the current EU-Belarus relations.
Let us remind you that the European Parliament postponed the adoption of the resolution about the situation in Belarus for two weeks yesterday. High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton claimed that Ambassadors would return to Minsk before the summit of the Council of the EU where possible sanctions would be discussed on March 23.
Andrei Fyodarau says that it is necessary to wait for official information and find out whether the EU Ambassadors have been invited to return to Belarus. Europe could demonstrate that it could make concessions and the Belarusian authorities could do the same. However, it seems that it was “a signal” from Minsk, thinks Fyodarau.
"I see no reason why the European Parliament and Ms. Ashton (if it really happened) could postpone the adoption of the resolution simultaneously. Something had to happen”, - noted the political scientist in a live interview with Euroradio.
