Applause expected in Belarus today
The organizers of the traditional “silent protest” have decided to use the old scheme - to gather in city centres and applaud.
People will gather in October Square in Minsk. According to information from social networks, the action will begin at 7 p.m. There will be no flags or mottos – only the applause. Nothing will change in the provinces either. People will gather near central squares in some cities. According to the organisers, it will be done for the participants’ safety.
Let us remind you that so-called “silent actions” started at the beginning of June – inhabitants of dozens of Belarusian cities go to squares to demonstrate their dissatisfaction with the authorities’ policy this way. Despite the absence of political demands, participants of such actions get severely detained, fined and arrested.
