Brest Court acquits “silent protester” Zmitser Shurhai
Surprisingly, the hearing of the BCD activist’s complaint has ended in his favour.
Let us remind you taht Zmitser Shurhai was detained before “the silent action” of June 28, 2011. Brest Moscow District Courts sentenced Shurhai to seven days of administrative arrest on June 29. However, Brest Province Court satisfied the activist’s complaint later and cancelled the sentence. The case was sent for further consideration.
Witnesses from the police confused their evidence and contradicted each other during the today’s hearing. The judge was not satisfied with numerous mistakes in the reports either. It was the reason to satisfy the appeal. Shurhai has informed Euroradio that he did not really hope to be acquitted.
If the policemen do not appeal the decision within 10 days they will be subjected to responsibility and the activist will be able to receive compensation.
