Candidates to meet voters in sleeping districts in Homel
ERB has decided to examine the places where it will be allowed to campaign and meet presidential contenders.
Thus, there are three places where contenders can meet voters and
organize rallies in Homel Railway District: the first one is in a
sleeping district near the Place of Culture of the Belarusian
Association of the Deaf “Vipra”, the second place is a one-hour trip
from the city centre – in a district community Kastsyukouka and the
third place is situated near a more or less crowded place – not far from
a one of the buildings of Homel State Medical University.
Speaking
about the second place situated in a district community Kastsyukouka,
ERB has not managed to find the agitation place there. There was no
place that could be called “a site” besides the threshold, the roadway
and a lane leading towards the Palace of Culture.
There is only one venue in Navabelitski District – not far from the local recreation area.
The site near the Palace of Culture “Festival” situated in Soviet District has become one of the spots where it will be allowed to meet candidates. Interestingly, where candidates would make their speeches: on the threshold or near the metallic musicians?
Out of all the places assigned for pickets the park near the Central
Stadium in Insurrection Square in Central District will likely be the
main one. Few contenders are going to look for the 10x20 metres patch
near the building belonging to Housing and Communal Services Department
#25 in a yard of one of Homel bedroom communities.
However, it is worth mentioning that a presidential candidate
Alyaksandr Milinkevich planned to meet electors in the site near
Insurrection Square during the last presidential election. However, he
saw huge piles of snow brought there by snow-ploughs literally a day
before the meeting. The meeting was conducted in the “Central” stadium
back then.
Speaking about the places where candidates can conduct indoor meetings,
Palaces of Culture or assembly halls of Homel enterprises have been
assigned for it in all the districts of the city. Only Navabelitski
District is an exception - candidates will meet schoolchildren there as
all meetings in the district will be conducted in school assembly halls.
Almost all the city bus stops have been assigned as places where printed
agitation ads of the presidential contenders can be hosted. But there
is a limit imposed on even or odd sides of streets in some places.
However, it will be forbidden to organize pickets, meetings or to meet candidates in the most crowded places of Homel.
