Civil activist beaten, hair cropped

Film maker Volha Nikalaichyk, a friend of  activist of "European Belarus" and "For Freedom" Yuliya Stsyapanava, has informed about it on Facebook. Stsyapanava phoned her and told about the beating. She was attacked near her house on her way from the bus stop at about 1 a.m. on January 14. The attackers kept swearing about her political views. Stsyapanava has a flat lip now. Yuliya's long curly blond hair has been cropped.

Yuliya Stsyapanava mentioned that psychological pressure was being exercised on her at a meeting dated for Mikola Autuhovich's 50th birthday on January 8, Volha Nikalaichyk said. Strangers were following and watching her.

Yuliya Stsyapanava has already experienced political pressure before. She was fired from her job at the reprehensive office of the Swedish company Scandinavian & UK Machines in May 2012. Her contract was to expire on December 31. But she was fired on May 29 without any explanation. Stsyapanava was jailed for participation in actions in support of Belarusian political prisoners earlier and was in the movie "Akrestsina torture cell".
