Sentence to Porsche Cayenne driver to be pronounced on Friday

15.48. Andrei Zababura made a final speech. He said that he admitted only the moral guilt in the accident. He asked forgiveness from the boy's mother and relatives. He said that he would render any possible help to them regardless of the court's decision.

The sentence will be pronounced on Friday, February 15, at 3 p.m.

15.37. Zababura's lawyer asked to consider him innocent. He says that if the court considers his client guilty, it should take into accout the accused's personality. He has two children, he is a good family man, he employed 50 people and should not be punished as "some drunkard> The lawyer also said that the court should leave Zababura's drivier's licence in force as "his work depends on it".

14.55. The casualties refused to speak and transferred their right to the lawyer. She also stressed out that the accused's guilt was obvious.

14.45. The prosecutor has reminded that Andrei Zababura did not admit guilt. She also shortly described the circumstances of the tragic event, which were disclaimed in the court before, some discrepancies in the evidence given by the accused during the investigation and here in court. She stressed out that the accused demonstrated no repentance.

In the opinion of the state prosecutor, all this, and the case materials, confirms that Zababura is guilty. She asks the court to punish him with 4 years of imprisonment in the correctional settlement colony.

12.55 The judge did not satisfy the appeal and decided to keep Zababura in custody.

11.15 Zababura's lawyer is speaking. He apeeals to release his client, changing the restraint this way. Zababura asked to fulfill this appeal or to release him on bail. He left it to the court to decide on the sum of the bail.

10.38 Witness Valasevich has informed that no one punished him for driving by the prohibition sign on that day. "I had a row with my wife. She did not want to be late so I decided that it was better to violate the rules than to quarrel with her", - he says.

Zababura's lawyer demanded to check with the help of cell phone operators whether Valasevich really was in the school area that evening. In his opinion, the witness is giving false information. The judge has not satisfied this appeal.

10.05 Zababura's lawyer appealed for change of restraint and release of his client from custody. The judge refused. She also denied the additional expertise, on which the lawyer of defence insisted.

Andrei Zababura is standing trial for killing 9-year-old Uladzik Hruzdzeu. The tragedy happened in November in Minsk micro-district Sukharava. The "Porsche Cayenne" driver didn't notice the boy and ran him over.

At Tuesday's trial, the experts from the accusation side claimed that Zababura had time to notice the child and stop the car. The expert invited by the lawyer of defence refuted this. The lawyer asked to conduct an additional expertise.
