Festive passing of GDL Statute to take place in Minsk today
The ceremony will start in the National Historical Museum at 16.30.
It is expected that representatives of the
Belarusian government will take part in the ceremony.
Let us remind you,
the Statute of the Great Duchy of Lithuania dated 1588 was offered to the
internet-auction by the owner of an antique shop in Moscow. The Statute was
estimated as 45 thousand dollars. Mahileu Museum of History and Culture
announced a charity action on collecting money to buy it. Part of the sum was
sent by the people from different regions of the country, and the rest of the
sum - 30 thousand dollars - was donated by the company "Alpary".
Let us note that
there are about 60 copies of all three editions of the Statute in the world,
and not a single one in Belarus.
