Ihar Bantsar loses 8 kilos for 5 days of hunger strike
Hrodna journalist and activist of the opposition Union of Poles Ihar Bantsar was released today after 5 days of administrative detention.
Mr. Bantsar was detained on June 14, when he was going to the Lenin district court of Hrodna, which considered the case of "Gazeta Wyborcza's" correspondent Andrzej Poczobut. The journalist had been kept in the detention center, and then was sentenced to 5 days of administrative detention for "bad swearing". Ihar Bantsar refused from food and water in prison as a protest against the sentence. As a result, he lost 8 kilos.
