The turnout was 66.4%. This unexpected number has been reported by the Independent Institute of Socio-Economic and Political Studies. The number differs from the official results presented by the Central Election Committee by only 7.8% (74.2%). Did you say boycott?

Leader of the Belarusian Christian Democracy Vital Rymasheuski claims that sociologists published such results because they were afraid of prosecution.

Interestingly, independent observers from the campaign "For Fair Election" claimed in their report: the average turnout was... 52.6%!

About 9.6% of the pollees said that they had boycotted the election, head of the IISEPS Aleh Manayeu told Euroradio. And it is quite a lot.

That is why Vital Rymasheuski is wrong when he says that the results of the survey indicate the failure of the boycott.

Interestingly, independent observers' opinions about the success of the boycott differ.

However, Vital Rymasheuski refers to independent observers and says that the boycott was successful. More than  half of the MPs elected on September 23 do not deserve their seats, the politician thinks.
