KGB gives no comment on "EB" statement on real reason for Haidukou's arrest
"No comment, whatsoever," says KGB sposkeman Aliaksandr Antanovich.
According to "European Belarus", the real reason for detention of Navapolatsk resident Andrei Haidukou was that he transported the Charter'97 newspapers. According to official information, Haidukou is suspected in treason, not in dissemination of illegal printed matter, and was detained "at the moment of making a recess with the data which the foreign special services are interested in".
Haidukou was detained on November 8 and has been in custody in the KGB prison since then. Another Vitsebsk region resident - Ilya Bahdanau - is also mentioned in his case. He was interrogated and released under secrecy obligation. Haidukou's relatives claim that the state security service representatives warned the youngster several times about the danger of contacts with the opposition structures.
