Opposition activist Syarhei Kavalenka pardoned and freed
The political prisoner was released from Mahileu colony at 8 p.m. on September 26. He took a train to Vitsebsk where he was met by his wife, son and relatives.
Syarhei Kavalenka served more than a year in prison for having violated his home confinement. The activist with Christian Conservatove Party of the Belarusian Popular Front filed an appeal for pardon back in June, and Lukashenka signed it.
According to Syarhei Kavalenka, Pavel Syramalotau should also be released on September 26. He was sentenced in connection with the so called "anarchists' case". Pavel was arrested in January 2011 for the attempt to set the KGB office in Babruisk on fire. He filed an appeal for pardon back in July 2012.
