Negotiations between Belarusian and Russian aviators appointed for today

The Russian delegation will be headed by Minister of Transport Valeri Akulov and head of the Russian aviation Alexander Neradko, informs RIA “Novosti”.

Let us remind you that the conflict arose at the end of March. All Minsk-Moscow flights were suspended for four hours on March 26 due to the disagreement about the number of daily flights between Russian and Belarusian airlines. As a result, an agreement was reached and the flights were temporarily resumed until negotiations in Moscow appointed for March 29. Then Russian mass media informed that “the Belarusian and Russian aviation institutions had agreed on flights until May 10” and that they still needed to reach an agreement. Deputy director-general of the national airline “Belavia” Ihar Charninets informed later that it was too early to claim that the schedule of flights had been approved and that it was necessary to sign the corresponding document.

The Russian Ministry of Transport informed that “Belavia” would be forbidden to conduct flights to all Russian cities except for Moscow starting from April 13.  Ihar Charhinets claimed that the actions of the Russian aviation authorities were illegal and that “Belavia” could sue “RosAvaiation”.

Ihar Charhinets commented on the negotiations and prospects in an interview with Euroradio on April 5:

“A protocol had to be signed after the negotiations. Nothing was signed. We insist on sticking to the existing agreement between the two states. Nothing has changed, this is our old position:  there should be parity – equal and fair opportunities for both sides”.
