Polish MFA: EU plans ambasadors' return in near future
Euroradio got a comment from Poland's MFA on the return of the EU states ambassadors to Minsk.
Let us remind you, in February the authorities of Belarus withdrew the ambassador in Poland and the representative in Brussels for consultations, and suggested that the Ambassador of Poland and the Head of the EU's representation should also "return to their capitals", for consultations. The EU states withdrew all their ambassadors in response to this.
After
the recent release of political prisoners Andrei Sannikau and Zmitser
Bandarenka the experts started predicting soon return of the European
ambassadors to Minsk.
The response of the bureau of the Polish MFA's
press-center, received by Euroradio, states the following: "The EU plans return of
the member states ambassadors to Minsk in the nearest future, under the
organized order. They return the same way they left - together."
Maja Kocijancic, Spokesperson of the EU's High Representative on Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton and Spokesperson of the Council of the European Union Susanne Kiefer have also commented the situation with the possible soon return of the ambassadors today.
