Swedish rights defender calls to leave Belarus out of Eurovision
Human rights activist Martin Uggla says Belarus state television should be expelled from the European Broadcasting Union
Appearing on the Swedish TV, Martin Uggla who chairs the Sweden-based human rights organization Östgruppen called on the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) to expel Belarus over human rights concerns, reports Radio Sweden-Ryska.
The HR defender refers to the system of values adopted by the European Broadcasting Union last year. Under EBU values, union's members should adhere to the freedom of speech and pluralism regardless of political interests.
According to Mr Uggla, Belarus' expulsion from the Eurovision song contest is subect to consideration in the future not this year.
