Who is Syarhei Pelyushkevich, new spokesman for Lukashenka?
Euroradio has learnt some details of his career.
During Alyaksandr Lukashenka's visit to St. Petersburg it became known that a new spokesman had been appointed.
"After the expanded meeting which did not last long (in comparison with the 4-sided meeting), Vladimir Putin and Alyaksandr Lukashenka went out to make a statement for the press. The fact that Alyaksandr Lukashenka had a new spokesman - Syarhei Pelyushkevich - attracted attention. Pavel Lyohki, who worked with Alyaksandr Lukashenka for many years obtained some political importance and took an easy job of an advisor-ambassador in the Belarusian Embassy in Moscow", - writes Commersant correspondent Andrei Kalesnikau.
On Monday, March 18, the state leader's press-center refused to comment on information from Kalesnikau's article. However, Euroradio has found out that Syarhei Pelyushkevich went to Indonesia together with the Belarusian delegation headed by Alyaksandr Lukashenka.
Pelyushkevich's family. Syarhei - first to the right.
There's not much information about Pelyushkevich's career. His father, Ivan Pelyushkevich, was born in the village of Novaya Mysh, Baranavichy district. He is a Colonel of the Internal Security Troops. In 2003, Syarhei Pelyushkevich graduated the faculty of journalism of the BSU (he studied with Lucia Lushchyk, the Belarusian celebrity TV-host). The students of the same year recall that he did not stand out much during the studies. After the university, Pelyushkevich got to the "First Channel of the Belarusian Radio", to the department of civil and political programs. According to the resolution of the Council of Ministers No. 1024 dated August 6, 2009, "analyst Pelyushkevich" received an official apartment "for a family of two people" in Ihnatouski Street. And this is practically all.
Euroradio correspondent has been told at the radio station that "Syarhei Pelyushkevich quit long ago, approximately half a year ago". Almost the same period of time has passed since retirement of former head of the presidential press-center Pavel Lyohki. He got the new job in October 2012.
Officially, the position of the presidential spokesman is still vacant.
