ROC calls chips and energy drinks non-Orthodox
The non-Orthodox products are genetically modified foods, chips and energy drinks. This statement was made priest Roman Bogdasarov, deputy head of the Synodal Department for Church and Society of the Russian Orthodox Church. He noted that Christians are not allowed to eat all products.
"Some people are wrong when they think that on a regular day they can eat everything. For example, it is forbidden to eat genetically modified foods, which bring strong harm not only the man himself, but his descendants. The church practice has a strict rule that sin is what harms to human health," the RBK quotes Bagdasarov.
The priest said that among the products forbidden to the faithful are also alcoholic beverages of the poor quality. According to him, the products also become non-Orthodox "If the cost of the Orthodox product contains a bribe or rollback to dishonest officials."
On October 20, the Russian media discovered that the chairman of the Public Chamber Commission on Social Policy, Labor Relations, and Quality of Life Vladimir Slepakov proposed to introduce a system of voluntary certification called "Orthodox standard." He wrote a letter about it to Patriarch Kirill.
