Romania closes down Russian refinery
Romania moves to shut down Petro Tel oil-processing plant in Ploiești that belongs to Lukoil.
A Lukoil representative has already confirmed this information to Reuters. Lukoil started the procedure of closing down on Friday, Romanian mass media report. The problem appeared when the Romanian prosecutor’s office started investigating incidents of tax evasion and money laundering.
The offices of five companies controlled by Lukoil were searched in Romania last week. According to the Romanian prosecutor’s office, the damage done by the illegal activities reaches 230 million euro. Lukoil has a network of about 300 filling stations in Romania. Petra Tel was bought in 1998, BBC reports.
