Russian Ambassador: Belarus violates gas price contract
The Russian Ambassador to Minsk Alexander Surikov has made this statement, reports BelaPAN.
Surikov has noted that there was a verbal agreement concluded by the leaders of Belarus and Russia in 2009. According to it, Belarus had to pay the average annual price for gas. Gas and oil prices decreased that year and all the debt was paid, noted Surikov. However, oil and gas prices keep increasing this year while Belarus is still paying for gas according to the last year’s verbal agreement that has not been prolonged this year.
The Russian diplomat has informed that Belarus’s gas debt totals about $149 million.
