Russian envoy: We will continue to supply crude oil to Belarus
Russia's ambassador in Minsk Aleksandr Surikov says Russia will strictly abide by the oil agreement with Belarus.
Thus he commented on the appeal of Mr. Roman Khudyakov, deputy of the Russian State Duma, to cut off oil supplies to Belarus in response to the promise of Minsk to help Kiev with oil, reports BELAPAN.
It is to be recalled that on August 4 a telephone conversation of Petro Poroshenko and Aliaksandr Lukashenka took place. It particularly focused on the supply of oil products from Belarus to Ukraine. Lukashenka promised that he would help Ukraine with oil products.
The same day, Mr. Roman Khudyakov, member of the State Duma Committee for CIS Affairs, Eurasian integration and relations with compatriots, proposed to cut off oil supplies to Belarus. He said that Ukraine was using these fuels and lubricants to fill tanks, armored personnel carriers and other military equipment involved in fighting in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions. "Doesn't Lukashenka understand that by helping Poroshenko he is wiping out the brotherly people of Ukraine?" said the outraged Russian deputy.
For his part the Russian ambassador noted that Belarus and Russia signed the documents for 2014 and will fulfill them regardless of any claims. "Twenty-three million tons of oil will be supplied to Belarus, 11.4 million tons were delivered in the first six months," said the diplomat.
