Russian Federal Security Service wants to access Internet users’ data
The project prepared by the Russian special services may come into power by the end of this year.
According to the documents, all Internet service providers will have to install equipment needed for recording and preserving Internet traffic for at least 12 hours by July 1, 2014. The special services will be able to directly access the recordings.
The recorded information will include phone numbers, IP addresses, logins and e-mail addresses of social networks users, Russian newspaper Kommersant reports. Some of the new law’s paragraphs contradict the Constitution because they enable collection and preservation of information before the court’s decision is pronounced, Internet service providers noted.
