SB publishes tut.by editors’ tapped conversation
The edition of the President’s Administration SB.Belarus Today has published investigation materials of ‘the BelTA case’. It is a tapped phone conversation of tut.by editors Maryna Zolatava and Hanna Kaltyhina. The audio was presented by investigators, the edition reports.
The conversation transcript:
Zolatava: "So, we are stealing from BelTA, aren’t we? Do you take the news from their website or from the news feed without waiting for them to be published?"
Kaltyhina: "To tell you the truth, I use their news feed and I never even visit the website of BelTA. I hardly ever visit it because it appears in the news feed much faster. It is important at press conferences, etc. So, we are stealing it."
The recording means that the journalists’ phones have been tapped for a while.
The offices of tut.by and BelaPAN as well as some journalists’ apartments were searched on August 7. At least six journalists and editors were detained: Maryna Zolatava, Hanna Kaltyhina, Halina Ulasik, Ulyana Babayed (released later), Dzmitry Bobryk, Hanna Yermachonak from tut.by and Tatstsyana Karavyankova from BelaPAN.
