Shunevich: 140 Belarusians fighting in Ukraine
About 140 Belarusians are fighting in Ukraine on both sides of the front. This was announced at a press conference on March 1 by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Belarus Ihar Shunevich.
"We have a list of people who, to our knowledge, are in a zone of armed conflict in Ukraine and are taking part in the fighting one way or another, at one or another side of the conflict," he said.
The minister added that his department is documenting facts based on instructions from investigators. The legal assessment of the actions of our compatriots in Ukraine will be given by the investigation.
According to the new norms of the Belarusian law, not just mercenaries but also volunteers who went to fight for another country are subject to prosecution.
