Slonim residents want to name street after Lukashenka
Residents in the town of Slonim have gathered over 100 signatures, requesting to name one of the town's streets after the Belarus ruler Aliaksandr Lukashenka, reports our correspondent Zmicier Cimasevic. People who live a nearby village Petralievicy have also joined the request, asking the president to rename the current Petralevickaja Street into Lukashenka street.
The request, signed by almost 200 people, says that "this street is a bridge between the town and the village and will become a symbol of the connecting link".
According to Viktar Marcyk, who spearheads the action, the request has already been forwarded to Aliaksandr Lukashenka in Minsk. The residents of Slonim also asked him to visit their town.
