Slovakia's foreign minister says EU-Belarus dialogue has been on Minsk's conditions

Slovakia's foreign minister Miroslav Lajcak said Monday that the dialogue between EU and Belarus has been moving on Minsk's conditions. He made this statement when meeting United Civic Party leader Anatol Liabedzka, ex-presidential candidate Alexander Kozulin and pro-democracy activist Andrei Kim. During the meeting, they also discussed the situation in Belarus and the development of the relations between Belarus and the European Union, reports Belapan news agency.

According to Anatol Liabedzka, Lajcak said it was a shortcoming that the dialogue between Brussels and Minsk was taking place on Lukashenka's conditions. Liabedzka said that Lajcak also stressed that the changes in Belarus were a lift-up. "He called for irreversable changes in Belarus", Liabedzka underlined.

The opposition representatives also submitted the proposals from the United Pro-Democracy Forces on the normalization of the relations between Belarus and EU as well as a 'roadmap' for Belarus to enter the Council of Europe.

Slovakia's foreign minister arrived in Minsk on September 6. Today, he is scheduled to meet with president Alexander Lukashenka and foreign minister Sergei Martynov. A Belarus-Slovakia business forum is also taking place today in Minsk.
