Sloviansk assault begins
An antiterrorist operation has started in this Ukrainian city today.
The Ukrainian troops have eliminated a few roadblocks in the outskirts and are heading for Sloviansk centre protected by APCs now. Helicopters are flying over the city, artillery is being used.
Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov has addressed people living in Sloviansk, Kramatorsk, and Krasnyi Liman in social networks and asked them to stay at home. No information about possible losses has been reported yet.
Terrorists attacked a column of Ukrainian troops heading for Sloviansk from Izyum (Kharkiv Oblast), head of the Military and Political Research centre and coordinator of the group Information Resistance Dmitri Tymchuk wrote on Facebook. A Ukrainian APC was put out of action. A battle started. The attack was beaten off. One Ukrainian soldier was killed and 13 were wounded. No information about terrorists’ losses was reported.
