Sloviansk battle: 4 Ukrainian troops dead, 30 wounded (video)
An anti-terrorist operation started in this Donetsk Oblast city on Monday.
Some sources report that the Ukrainian authorities decided to react to the fact that hundreds of militants were approaching Sloviansk from Crimea, others say that they prevented hundreds of armed people from fleeing from the city. The Ukrainian riot police received reinforcement and repulsed the attack, censor.net.ua reports. 4 Ukrainian troops have died, one person is in a critical condition now and about 30 people have been wounded.
It is not clear how many people militants have lost. They are retreating now and the territory is being cleared. The Ukrainian riot police have seized a great number of the newest Russian weapons (the riot police of the Russian Army GRU are armed with such weapons).
The riot police units Omega, Jaguar and SBU riot police unit Alfa are said to have played a decisive part in the fight.
