Student can make from Br300 thousand to $6000 in summer

One more curriculum will be over soon. For some people vacations are the time to have a rest. For others, it is an opportunity to work.

The Belarusian youth placement service is dealing with placement of students in the country. The number of vacancies has increased recently. One can make from 300 thousands to 2 million rubles a month, said an employee of the service Tatstsyana Suhamera:

“We are working as a placement agency but all our services are free. Most applications we receive are for non-qualified work where no higher education or special knowledge and skills are required. It is because young people have little experience.

Guys can work as builders or maintenance workers – loaders, packers, etc. Girls can be waitresses, summer shop assistants, managers and sales engineers…  There are different vacancies – hair-dressers, nurse and coaches”.

According to Tatstsyana Suhamera, more than thousand people came to the placement centre from January to May 2010 and almost half of them managed to find jobs.  Speaking about wages, students can make from 300 thousand to 2 million rubles depending on how lucky they are:

“The wages are different – 300 thousands, a million, a million and a half or two millions a month. The most common jobs are builders for guys – it is about a million or more. Girls can become managers, promoters and make about 800 thousands a month”.

The overwhelming majority of vacancies are consumer services at resorts: hotels, attraction parks and restaurants, informed the Belarusian affiliate of the International Exchange Centre in an interview with ERB.

-    I cannot tell you the exact number but there will be more of them than last year.

How much money do Belarusian students make in the USA in summer?

-    We have last year’s information. The majority of them (25.5%) said they had made from 3 to 4 thousand dollars. 5% - less than 1 thousand, 8% - more than 6 thousands, 12% - from 5 to 6 thousands, 19% - from 4 to 5 thousands. The numbers differ, but the average wage is from 3 to 4 thousands.
